Alter Bridge with Bled Life and Coldville at The Intersection

Alter Bridge, Bled Life and Coldville
at The Intersection
Grand Rapids, Michigan

The Intersection played host to Alter Bridge; opening for them were two well known bands: Bled Life and Coldville on Friday the 15th of July. Last Friday had perfect weather for waiting in line, not too hot but in the lower 70's without rain. The only thing to worry about was the estimated 4,000 pokemon hunters taking up the parking spaces.

This was all worth the struggle of finding a parking spot to see Alter Bridge.  The Intersection is like a home away from home being very hospitable to their customers and security keeps the peace so everyone can have a great time.  My assistant/metal son and I were very much interested in seeing Alter Bridge,Bled Life, and Coldville. Experiencing Alter Bridge live is a check mark off my bucket list alongside seeing Ozzy Osbourne at Ozzfest in 2007.

My assistant had the honor of covering Slash with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators at The Orbit Room in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2012 for concert photos magazine. I enjoyed watching at the side of the stage while my assistant/son took some amazing pictures.

We caught Coldville’s show twice last year, once opening for Halestorm and the other time opening for Saint Asonia.  Alter Bridge has many songs that we know and love that were played that night.  When people read the articles that we write you see that we go to shows that we love the music of only, and to experience great live music like Alter Bridge, Bled Life and Coldville put out day in day out is our ultimate payment.

Coldville: Is made up of Luke Ponce on lead vocals, Matt Millering on drums, Aaron Lutz on lead guitar/vocals, and Jimmy Blankenship on bass/vocals. Coldville’s influences are Three Days Grace,Shinedown, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Skillet, Red, Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach, and Chevelle. Coldville is one of the hardest working West Michigan rock bands around.

Whenever you see a headline rock and hard rock band showing up in West Michigan you will usually see Coldville on the bill as well. They leap at every gig they can get with proof of who they have played with. Opening for headlines acts such as Halestorm, Zach Myers of Shinedown, Papa Roach, Scott Stapp of Creed, Trapt, Saint Asonia, Sick Puppies, Finger Eleven, Pop Evil, Lacuna Coil, Nothing More and many others.

And now they opened for Alter Bridge, getting the crowd warmed up.  The hardest part of a concert is being the opening band and getting the crowd fired up. Coldville didn’t have a problem having the crowd connect with them and start singing their songs and jumping up and down.

Their genre of music is new rock and touch on different genres throughout their songs creating a great rock sound. Coldville is on tour supporting their album titled “This Fight” and are working on a new album. "This Fight" is also the title of our favorite song by Coldville as well.

2. Ordinary Me
3. Say What You Want

Bled Life: Bled Life consists of Brian Grooms on guitar/vocals, Nathan Grooms on Drums and Dan Nash on bass. The band is another West Michigan band. Favorite song by Bled Life performed was titled “Only Human”.

Bled Life’s influences are Red, Skillet, Kutless, Seven Dust and Alter Bridge. “Only Human” is on video on their facebook page at this link shared below:

Bled Life’s setlist:

This band has a lot of rock and roll heart and talent that draws me into wanting to see their show live again in the future.

Alter Bridge: Consists of Myles Kennedy on guitar/vocals, Mark Tremonti on guitar/vocals, Brian Marshall on bass, and Scott Phillips on drums. The band was formed in 2004. Alter Bridge Music:

The overall goal in most bands' performances is to have the crowd experience the music to the point that they forget about their everyday worries and time seems to have no effect. A good example was when photographing the show, you are only allowed three songs and then you leave and watch the show with the crowd. There was a point where everyone on stage connected and made you forget how many songs went by.

It was great finally hearing Alter Bridge live singing our favorite song such as "Rise Today", "Addicted To Pain", and "Blackbird". The song that gave me goosebumps every single time is "Rise Today" I feel is a masterpiece. The song taking it's place along side AC/DC's "Back In Black, Metallica's "One" and Pop Evil's "Torn To Pieces".

When you an overall performance grabs you and the total experience where you hear people sing along with the song is all sonic bliss.  All the bands that night achieved that goal of forgetting the worries of everyday life and enjoying the live music experience.
