Taylor Swift’s Reputation Stadium Tour
With
Camila Cabello
Charli XCX
At
Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois

On Friday June first, Soldier Field was host to the Taylor Swift’s Reputation
Tour along with Camila Cabello and Charli XCX.  It was sunny in the low 60’s
and breezy in the windy city of Chicago but the warm atmosphere inside the
stadium made up for it all.  Children and adults were full of smiles with
excitement in their eyes in anticipation for the start of the show.

The stadium was packed full of people from all walks of life, with one thing in
common... the love of the music that Taylor Swift, Charli XCX and
Camila Cabello perform.   Each person I saw may love more than one genre of
music and are the same as my daughter and I.  My daughter Kayla was the
photographer for the evening as I soaked up the vibes of the people around me.

One stereotype I wanted to break was that a person who is Rock and Metal can’t
love other genres as well.  My daughter was a perfect example of this, from
playing violin in orchestra to playing Metallica’s “One” on guitar and receiving
her music performance degree from college.  Taylor Swift is one of her real life
superheroes, empowering other women to be strong and not to be a victim and
is a great role model for everyone.

I got a taste of Taylor Swift’s new album titled “Reputation” as we were leaving
Michigan heading down the skyway to Soldier Field.  My daughter sang all the
songs on the album as I payed attention to the driving. Making it to the parking
lot early we set out to tailgate, and off in the distance we could hear the sound
check.

Soldier Field reminded me of a giant speaker playing beautiful music making
the windy city come alive.

Charli XCX:  Originally from Start Hill, Essex, England and her genres are
dance-pop, electro-pop and avant-pop.   She is known for the songs titled
“Boom Clap” and “I Love It” and the EP titled “Vroom Vroom”.  My favorite song
by Charli XCX is “Boom Clap,” it was a great start to the show and brought the
audience energetically to their feet.  Her albums are titled “True Romance” in
2013, “Sucker” in 2014, “Number 1 Angel” in 2017 and “Pop 2” in 2017.

Setlist:
  1. Boom Clap
  2. I Love It
  3. Break The Rules
  4. Unlock It
  5. Boys
  6. Five In The Morning
  7. Fancy

Camila Cabello:  Camila was born in Cojimar, Eastern Havana, Cuba.  She is
known for the genres of music, R&B and pop. She is most well known for her
hit songs titled “Havana” and “Never Be the Same”.

Early on, she was known for singing in the group, Fifth Harmony.  She is on tour
in support of her album released in 2018 titled “Camila”.  We really enjoyed her
performing the song,“Havana,” it was a visual song that really captivates you.

Songs included in the performance were “Never Be the Same,” “She Loves
Control,” “Havana,” and many more.

Tour Dates:

Taylor Swift:  Taylor was born in Reading, Pennsylvania and is known for her

Now” in 2010, “Red” in 2012, “1989” in 2014 and “Reputation” in 2017.   She
has won the hearts of many fans of different genres not just pop and country.
At the start of the show it was very suspenseful as the crowd awaited  “Ready
For It” which was the first song performed and “I Did Something Bad” was the
second song, with fireworks and flames from the 100 foot or more stage that
shocked and surprised the crowd.  The great stage presence gripped the crowd
with great vocals and music blended beautifully and with precise choreography
that kept the crowd gripped through the total show.

Pre-concert thoughts:  I never knew whether Taylor Swift has done any rock and
roll collaborations.  I did a search and found that Taylor sang with Rolling Stones
and Def Leppard.  This told me that Taylor is a gifted artist that doesn’t just have
to stay in a single genre label.

Taylor and her music expands and evolves winning the hearts of fans from many
genres.  She started with country and then to pop and now touching into rock
and roll. This gave me the idea for my daughter and I adventure to make a
banner.

And on the banner it would read, “Rock and Roll loves Taylor too.”   One
question, “will Taylor collaborate with other rock bands?” Some great matches
to collaborate with that I’d love to see would be Greta Van Fleet, Shinedown,
Breaking Benjamin and The Foo Fighters.

One thought about Taylor Swift, she is a positive role model for other women.  A
few people that I interviewed at my work were haters of Taylor Swift and then
they admitted to loving some of her songs.  Me being a composer/musician with
my daughter and son being musicians as well, one thing you realise is that the
music you make has a part of your soul in each song.

So when people hate the person but love some of the music it is a contradiction.
An artist creates the music usually from personal life experiences and shares it
with the world and watches the song grow and take off.  On this concert
adventure I am bringing my daughter/editor/photographer to report one of her
sonic super heroes, Taylor Swift.

I never made the banner because I thought it would be in the way but it doesn’t
take a banner to let Taylor know her music is loved throughout the music world.
The haters hate because it takes less energy than it does to love. This has
definitely been a very exciting performance to see
and I highly recommend others to see it as well if possible.
