Five Finger Death Punch with In This Moment and Fire From The Gods

Five Finger Death Punch
With
In This Moment
And
Fire From The Gods
At
Soaring Eagle Casino
Mount Pleasant, Michigan

Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort hosted an outdoor concert featuring Five Finger Death Punch, In This Moment, and Fire From The Gods.  The show was on Saturday July 13th, in the evening with a sunny high of 84 degrees with a light wind caressing the concert goers.  While I was packing for the show, I did the Michigan thing... showing my assistant where we are heading on my right hand palm up.

This was the first time in the area as neither of us had ever been in the area before.  When we arrived, there was plenty of parking for everyone to have a good time. The resort and casino is very large to us and is well kept up, clean outside everywhere you looked.

A great way to judge a concert venue is to view how they treat the grounds and the people going to see a show, and have a good time.  We hurried around to the back of the casino and resort area to the outdoor venue and talked to security for assistance. The security was very chill and helpful with getting into the show and handling the crowd.

The Casino/Resort/Venue was very honorable and chill, being hospitable to all that were at the show.  Someday I hope to go back to see another show and maybe next time stay the night as well. Soaring Eagle Casino/Resort/Venue shines like beautiful gems at night time.

The thoughts on drinks, they were all reasonably priced for a concert.  So the important thing was to keep hydrated while covering the concert.  The sun was at the perfect position for acting as a stage light for the first two bands.

The first band up was a band I never heard play which makes it refreshing for these metal ears, named Fire From The Gods.  The other two bands my assistant and I have covered ever since Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Fest 2010 at Tinley Park, IL., Five Finger Death Punch and In This Moment.  All three bands made for a great concert adventure non-stop from the beginning to end.

Fire From The Gods:  The band is made up of AJ Channer on vocals, Jameson Teat on guitar, Drew Walker on guitar, Bonner Baker on bass, and Richard Wicander on drums.  The band hails from Austin,Texas which is the new Nashville to some people. I always say this but the hardest job for an opening band is to get the concert goers revved up and energized for the next bands.

To think about this a moment, Five Finger Death Punch and In This Moment brought them on tour, which means they have to be good to tour with these bands.  I really felt sorry for the band with the sun beaming down on them, but these dudes hail from Texas.  They took the heat in stride and rocked out melting some faces early on in the show.

We really liked the flow and mixture of the metal growling vocals mixed with the guitars, bass, and drums.  This is a band I hope to see more of in the future. They are on tour in support of their album titled Narrative Retold.

In This Moment:  Consisting of Maria Brink on vocals, Chris Howorth on lead guitar, Travis Johnson on bass, Randy Weitzel on guitar, and Kent Diimmel on drums.  This band, my assistant and I followed their shows ever since 2010 with a good reason. They put on a great show that keeps us wanting to see them again and again.

The band formed in August 2005 and their hometown is Hollywood, California.  The band is on tour in support of their album titled "Ritual" that came out in 2017.  Every time we see the band play they have a different theme for the show.

This time the theme was dark buildings with crosses and other symbols and Maria Brink with different color witch/ritual outfits, one was white another was black and then one was blue.  The outfits were captivating in design and perfectly matched with Maria Brink’s metal vocals. The metal vocals seem to get better and better every year, perfectly blended with the metal guitars, bass, and drums to create great flow sonically and visually.

In This Moment also had to endure the sun beaming on the stage making it extra hot on the black outfits the band was wearing.  They rocked out and melted the faces of the crowd without letting the heat get to them. Maria Brink makes it fun performing our favorite song by In This Moment titled “Whore”.

High up on a podium you see her waving a stick around connecting with the crowd.  She had everyone yelling out the name of the song, before the start of the song.

In This Moment setlist:

In This Moment tour list:

Five Finger Death Punch:  The band consists of Ivan Moody on vocals, Zoltan Bathory on guitar, Jason Hook on guitar, Chris Kael on bass, and Charlie Engen on drums.  The band started in 2005 and the hometowns are Las Vegas, Nevada and Los Angeles, California. The band is on tour in support of their album titled "And Justice For None".

My two favorite cover songs by Five Finger Death Punch are “Bad Company” (Bad Company cover) and the new single “Blue On Black” (Kenny Wayne Shepherd cover).  “Blue On Black” the new single features Five Finger Death Punch, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Brantley Gilbert, and Brian May.  Every time we see the band perform, Ivan and the rest of the band connect with the crowd and make it fun being at their show.

The trick for every artist/musician is to get the crowd to forget about their worries of everyday events and just have a great time rocking out.  Ivan and the band capture your attention and keep it for the total show. Metal Axe Gallery always tries to cover their show at least one time per year.

The reason that we keep coming back to see their show, is because they put on a great show.  With the sun setting and the moon rising while Five Finger Death Punch was playing, it made it magical and an epic adventure.  Epic adventure is an understatement when Five Finger Death Punch is involved.

Five Finger Death Punch tour list:

No matter what I say about any of the bands, you go out and catch any of the shows yourself.  The true test of a band is hearing them perform live in front of you on stage. You don’t just listen to the music live you actually experience the total performance.
